Study in Denmark

About Denmark

Denmark is a Nordic country in Northern Europe, located southwest of Sweden and south of Norway, and bordered to the south by Germany.
The Kingdom of Denmark comprises Denmark and two autonomous constituent countries in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Denmark proper has an area of 43,094 km2 and a population of around 5.64 million inhabitants.
The country consists of a peninsula, Jutland, and 443 named islands, of which around 70 are inhabited. The islands are characterised by flat, arable land and sandy coasts, low elevation and a temperate climate.
As a Scandinavian nation, Denmark shares strong cultural and historic ties with its overseas neighbours: Sweden and Norway.
The national language, Danish, is very closely related and mutually intelligible with Swedish and Norwegian.
About 83% of Danes speaks English.

4. You must have €3-4,000 in back-up capital, in order to start life/study in DK.

  • A diploma in English will make you more mobile on the EU labour market.
  • The project- and group-oriented learning atmosphere will teach you how to cooperate and think.
  • During the studies, you will work closely with several relevant companies, organisations outside school. You will get experience and contacts, which will make your job-search easier after getting your diploma.
  • If you can find work, you can stay in Denmark after your studies. It is a well-organised society with high living standards. And it is the "happiest country in the world"!

Application process

How to apply?

  1. When you have decided to apply, register with us (+ pay the refundable deposit of €50).
  2. Register for and take the required language test. (If you do not pass 1st time, you can retake up to 2 times with no further charges.)
  3. Apply online. There are 2 different systems, depending if you want to study AP / Bachelor OR Master.
Application deadlines are March 15th for AP / Bachelor and April 1st for Master. (You can also apply for some AP / Bachelor programs after the deadline.)
  4. You will get answer between early May and early July, depending on which school you apply for.

English test

Depending on what you want to study at which school, there are different requirements for the English test.
We can help you with 2 different tests:

  • Oxford Placement test (paper based) and
  • Oxford Online Placement test.

These years most schools are shifting from the old paper test to the online test. For the online test, you must use a well-functioning laptop / tablet with earphones / earplugs.
When you decide to take a test with us, we send you preparation material. If you do not reach the required level in the test, you can re-take the test 2-4 weeks later at no extra charge. Altogether you have 3 chances.

Some schools conduct Skype interviews or personal interviews in April-May.

If you apply for MASTER program at Aalborg University, you must provide the school with a TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge test, which is not more than 2 years old.
You can find the requirements here: Official English language requirements, as well as under each program on

What does it cost?

a. Deposit €50 to us (paid back IF you go to DK to study, finish 1st semester and start 2nd)

b. Some schools ask for €100-400 in deposit. If you go out, you will get "value for money", but not the money back. If you do not go out to that school, money is lost. Deposit must be paid 2-4 weeks after getting conditional acceptance from the school.

c. Living in DK normally costs about €700-800 / month for a student. Most students find a free-time job during the 1st semester, and after some time most students can cover their own expenses. It takes time to find a job, so you should bring € 3-4,000 with you, in order to cover the expenses UNTIL you can find a free-time job. A free-time job normally pays €10-13 / hour.

d. When you have an official free-time job and work min. 12 hrs / week, you can apply for and GET "SU" (state educational support), which is about €700 / month.
